2025 Boundaries Education
The synods of Region 5 are working together to provide Collaborative Boundaries Education for rostered leaders and licensed lay ministers. The education will follow a three-year cycle and will include education on Professional Boundaries, Gender Justice, and Racial Equity. All rostered leaders and licensed lay leaders are expected to participate in this training.
This year’s training is on Thursday, November 6, 9:00am to 3:00pm, on the topic of Gender Justice. Our instructor is Mary J. Streufert, ELCA Director for Justice for Women. The cost is $100 per participant. Lunch and refreshments are included in the cost of registration, as well as a copy of course instructor Mary Streufert’s book (insert title here).
All Region 5 synods will be participating in this educational event on November 6. The education will be offered at the following sites in the SCSW:
- Bethlehem Lutheran Church, W8267 State Hwy 33 Trunk, Portage, WI 53901
- St. Matthew New Life Lutheran Church, 7564 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, WI 53718
- Immanuel Lutheran Church, 209 N. 9th St., Watertown, WI 53094
You are also welcome to choose from a site in another synod, if the location is more convenient for you.

Once you have registered, please submit your payment online (link) (please choose R5 Boundaries Education from the dropdown menu) or via check made payable to the SCSW (please put “R5 Boundaries Education” in the memo line). Please note, your registration is not complete until your payment has been received.
Note that after submitting your RSVP or registration you will receive a copy of your submission by email. If you do not receive it initially, please check your spam/junk folder or reach out to Jill Sim in the synod office at jills@scsw-elca.org or (608) 270-0201. Please do NOT register again as this creates duplicate submissions.
