We sometimes need to be reminded to welcome and care for those who are placed on the edges of society, particularly people who experienced war and combat. We are called to love, serve and welcome the strangers at our doors, not only by official mandate of our church, but by Jesus Christ when he says, “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

Webinar: Engaging Service Members, Veterans, and their Families Through Faith-Based Partnerships

Faith-based organizations often serve as a trusted source of help and connection for many Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families (SMVF). An increasing number of faith-based organizations and leaders not only assist with the spiritual needs of SMVF but also provide support with many areas related to readjustment and strengthening resiliency, wellness, and recovery. They are often referred to as “force multipliers” due to their help and support to so many SMVF on the path to positive behavioral health and well-being.

Equipping the Saints: 2019 Military Caregiver Resource Directory

Several of our rostered with hearts for the care of Veterans and active duty service members in their communities have participated in Community Clergy Training Programs for caring for our veterans. They continue to gather to learn more about their special needs and ways to serve and support them. We all have service members that we know, so it helpful to stay abreast of the resources that are available to them so that we can be better caregivers and friends. A new resource has been released to do just that and we offer it here for your consideration; the Department of Defense Military Caregiver Support 2019 Caregiver Resource Directory (CRD).
