The Chicago Gargoyle Brass returns to Good Shepherd with Jared Stellmacher, Organ
This year’s program, entitled “Imaginary Journey,” features world premieres of new works and arrangements for brass quintet, organ, and percussion commissioned by the ensemble. “Imaginary Journeys,” written for the ensemble by Chicago-area composer, Mark Lathan, is a three-movement work that takes the listener on rocket-powered interstellar adventure, inspired by recent astronomical discoveries. Other highlights include movements from Bach’s Reformation cantata, “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, BWV 80,” an epic arrangement of Igor Stravinsky’s ever-popular “Suite from The Firebird,” and many others. Free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be collected and a reception will follow. (Good Shepherd Lutheran Madison Campus: 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison)
