Our 2019 Bishop’s Convocation for all Rostered Leaders will take place October 6-8 at the Grand River Center in Dubuque, IA. Each year, the bishop invites all rostered leaders in our synod and their spouses to participate in a few days of learning, collegiality, respite, and fun!

As we have gathered on the east side of the synod for more than 10 years for the Bishop’s Convocation, we are moving it to the west!  This year, the Grand River Center in Dubuque Iowa will serve as our gathering place.  We will also worship together at Wartburg Theological Seminary.

Judith Roberts, ELCA Program Director for Racial Justice – Judith will lead us in Advancing Racial Equity TrainingThis training will equip participants to apply a common framework and lens in identifying the many ways racism and other forms of oppression– manifest within ourselves, interpersonal interactions, institutions and across society. Through presentation materials that you can bring back to your settings, and discussion topics—participants will acquire practical tools and strategies for implementing racial equity.

Please send your pastors and deacons to this event!  It is an expectation that they attend and that their congregations support them in this time of learning and collegiality and retreat.
