Additional Pandemic Administrative Related Resources

  • Resuming Care-filled Worship & Sacramental Life During Pandemic
July 23, 2020: The pandemic has challenged churches to continue being the church without gathering in person. We have met that challenge by meeting online, live streaming worship and providing instructions for worship at home. Now churches face another challenge. How will we resume worship gatherings in-person while the pandemic is still with us? This new resource of safe practices for worship during the pandemic has been created by an ecumenical consultation. In addition to representatives from several denominations in the U.S., the consultation team included scientists and medical professionals. Additional materials are found on the supporting website, including a Spanish edition of the core resource.
  • C.A.R.E.S. Act Summary
This document briefly summarizes provisions in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“the CARES Act”) that could possibly be of interest to church plans, ministries and plan members.
  • Families First Act Summary
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was signed into law by the President on March 18, 2020. It expands the provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), including which employers are covered under the Act, which may bring smaller religious organizations like Local Churches and Synods under the new provisions.

Election 2020
Voting Day Prayer Vigil

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Election Day for our prayer vigil. Whether you logged on for just a brief moment or for longer periods your presence was surely felt. Thank you to our congregation and synod pastors, deacons, and lay leaders who shared their time to pray with us throughout the day. A huge thank you also to Robyn Zimmerman for her guidance and leadership throughout the day in organizing a smooth time of contemplative prayer.

On our synod YouTube Channel we have now added individual videos from each of the vigil leaders. The playlist of the videos can be found here: To find a particular leader see the description of each video or via the times listed below.

They bring us together and give us hope for the future. Given the challenges of 2020, we need stories of hope and unity more than ever before. That’s where your 2020-2021 edition of “Stories of Faith in Action”comes in. This annual publication illustrates how God is at work across the ELCA through your generosity.
