Mission Moment: Goodbye Cairo, Hello Passages

We thank you for supporting her ministry with St. Andrews Refugee Service and St. Andrews United Church of Cairo. An increasing number of faith-based organizations and leaders not only assist with the spiritual needs of SMVF but also provide support with many areas related to readjustment and strengthening resiliency, wellness, and recovery. They are often referred to as “force multipliers” due to their help and support to so many SMVF on the path to positive behavioral health and well-being.

Mission Moment: LOPPW & WELCA Gather Around the Safe Harbor Human Trafficking Bill

The Women of the ELCA and Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin joined together to hold a rally on youth are impacted by sex trafficking on September 24.  The day began at Messiah Lutheran Church in Madison.  We then went to the capitol, equipped with information and faith-based responses to advocate for the Safe Harbor bill.  AB 41/AB 49 would move Wisconsin ahead in directing trafficked youth to receiving human services rather than criminalizing them.

The Forgotten Luther III: Reclaiming a Vision of Global Community Live Streaming Event!

The third Symposium in the Forgotten Luther series, with the help of five prominent church leaders and Luther scholars, invites congregations to develop a broader understanding of the global dimension of Christ’s mission in the world. Against the growing disparity in wealth and the rising tide of economic and political refugees throughout the world, the Symposium will reflect on Luther’s oft-forgotten social and economic reforms that flow from his central doctrine of justification by grace through faith.

Synod RIC Worship & Celebration

The Synod RIC team invites all Reconciling Lutherans and congregations to a joint worship service. This will be a chance to connect our congregations around our work to welcome and embrace our LGBTQ+ siblings. We will also celebrate the ongoing reformation of the church as we mark the 10 year anniversary of the 2009 vote that cleared the way for LGBTQ+ persons to be ordained into ministry in the ELCA and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

Special Synod Assembly

The South-Central Synod of Wisconsin-ELCA will hold a Special Meeting of the Synod Assembly on November 2, 2019 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie, WI. The primary purpose of this meeting is to receive and adopt the 2020 Synod Spending Plan. We will worship together, enjoy programming, then hold discussion and vote on a spending plan.

Sunday Afternoon Cleaning (Madison/Verona)

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison and Verona is looking for a person to help clean up our two campuses following worship on Sunday morning from noon-6 p.m. on Sundays. We are looking for a conscientious, hardworking individual with a good driving record, since you will need to drive between the two campuses. Director of Music Ministry (Sun Prairie)

Position includes directing and accompanying the Chancel Choir (adult) and keyboard responsibilities on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.  Choir has about 20 members. We have an 8-year-old Kawai 6′ grand in the sanctuary. The organ will be a 13 rank Casavant, which is in the final stages of installation. Salary is dependent on experience, with the pay range between $100 and $135 per service.  The Chancel Choir salary is between $3500 and $4000 per 9-month annual period. 

Full-Time Chaplain (Stoughton)

Skaalen Retirement Services is a Lutheran retirement community that has been providing care and support of seniors in need since 1900. Skaalen Retirement Services is seeking a full-time Chaplain to provide spiritual care to by promoting a spiritual environment within the campus by leading worship services, providing prayer services, conducting Bible study, leading religious discussions, providing religious education and hymn sings with residents and patients in all levels of care. The successful candidate will need to be ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Ecclesiastical Specialized Care Endorsement status from the ELCA, and is Board Certified Chaplain status from the Association of Professional Chaplains.
