“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday

/by
“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is Sunday, September 8, 2019. This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

On August 5-10, our synod’s delegation of 18 joined nearly 1,000 members from 65 synods in Milwaukee for the ELCA 2019 Churchwide Assembly. Held every three years, “We are Church” was the theme of this year’s assembly, and the manifestation of that theme throughout did not disappoint. ELW’s Wanted by August 20 for Worship at Columbia Correctional Institute

/by
We know that the incarcerated need spiritual care. Listening for God in prison can be challenging, but we know the Holy Spirit is active and is changing lives. One of our chaplains who serves at Columbia Correctional Institute, Rev. Mark Teslik, is asking for donated copies of the ELW for their weekly protestant worship service. Deacon Vicki Hanrahan will be co-leading worship there on Wednesday, August 21. If you are in the area of the synod office and would be able to sacrifice one of your copies of the ELW for this important cause, please do drop it off at the synod office by August 20. Deacon Vicki will hand-deliver them to CCI on August 21. Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration!
