Diakonia Class Sign-up Timeline

Students: please mail your registration and payment to the synod office no later than August 27.  Instructors: if you are a rostered minister and would like to teach a Diakonia course, we are looking for instructors

Installation of New Bishop

Saturday, August 18, 2018 - All congregational members are invited and encouraged to attend. We will be participating in a historical and special moment in the life of the ELCA.  And we would also point out that if you want your youth to have a bigger sense of being church together in the world, bring them to this event!  The music, singing and fanfare will be incredible, the message meaningful and the refreshments abundant!

I am so honored and humbled to be your bishop.  My official start date was July 1st but if you were involved in the MYLE and Youth Gathering 2018 you know I was in place a week earlier.  It was indeed a privilege to start my tenure with a focus on the youth of the South-Central Synod.

Staying Alive Spiritually. . . a two day retreat

October 29-30 at Cedar Valley in West Bend, WI This Retreat is targeted at Clergy and Ministers serving congregations. Certified Spiritual Director Holly Whitcomb will help us learn to balance the expectations of leading others in an authentic spiritual life, while maintaining our own spiritual life.

Pride Parade – Sunday, August 19

ReconcilingWorks-Madison and the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin are excited to invite you to the OutReach Pride Parade on Sunday, August 19th. Join us at 11:30 on State Street (500 & 600 blocks). At noon, the parade will march up State Street and around the Capitol Square.

“Culture, Change, and Church” – 2018 Change or Die Conference

Siebert Lutheran Foundation's Annual Change or Die Conference (Thursday, October 11, 2018 at: Milwaukee Marriott West) provides an opportunity for Lutheran ministry leaders to network and learn from each other. At the 2018 conference, we are excited to present Dr. James Emery White, the founding senior pastor of Mecklenburg Community Church, in Charlotte, North Carolina.


Director of Gift Planning – ELCA

There are two key responsibilities for this leadership position: Through the direct supervision of a national staff of about 20 regional gift planners (coaching and managing), lead and manage a robust fund-raising program to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective donors of current and planned gifts; and Manage the business relationships with ministry partner organizations through on-site visits.

Contemporary Worship Leader (Part-time -10 hours per week)

will provide leadership for the planning, development, administration, and implementation of the contemporary worship services at St. Mary’s. The worship leader must be a skilled instrumentalist (guitar or piano preferred) who has the ability to work with and develop band members to reach their unique capabilities.
