Please note the following:
• Global Health Ministries Kits – PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF ROOM LOCATION FOR KIT DROPOFF FROM EBONY TO GUAVA. Do not bring loose items. All items should be packaged in sealed cardboard boxes and labeled on the outside with the number of items and type of items in each box. Ingathering times for GHM Kits and Baby Blankets and Rolled Bandages: Friday, April 29 Kalahari GUAVA Room – 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm Saturday, April 30 Kalahari GUAVA Room – 7:00 am – 5:00 pm There may not be assistance for unloading on Friday, but there will be helpers on Saturday. You will unload at the rear entrance of the Convention Center and deliver to the Ebony room inside the doors.

• Pre-Assembly Materials Can Be Printed from the Assembly Website: https://bit.ly/SCSWAssembly2016. Look for the Book/Schedule/Workshops Tab

• Even though the event is closed, you can still view all the information on the site.

• OFFERING - Please remember to bring your congregation’s offering! This year’s offering will be used for the Synod’s Endowment Fund to support Outreach Ministries and to support ELCA World Hunger. Your offerings will count toward the synod’s $2,000,000 5-year goal for ELCA World Hunger. Your generosity makes a difference for our hurting world.

• DISPLAYS AT ASSEMBLY: WE HAVE OVER 30 DISPLAYERS! This year we welcome new displayer and sponsor of our appetizer reception on Saturday night, FAITH JOURNEYS.

FAITH JOURNEYS can help our congregations plan your own reformation trip to Germany!

• Please do not call the hotel regarding your hotel reservations. If you have questions, please call the synod office. (608) 270-0201. Please note that cancellation fees will now apply for cancellations.

WOW! You should see the list of workshops! And you will as they will be communicated to you by Monday, April 18! We will have workshops ranging from Faith and the Arts led by Jonathan Rundman, Faith and Climate Change led by our Care of Creation Team, and Lutheran Identity in a Changing World led by two rock-star pastors in our synod! These and more. There is still time to register for assembly, but registration closes April 16, so don’t delay!

Bishop Eaton will bring an important message that we need to hear. Don’t miss this opportunity. Not a voting member for your congregation? Come on your own as a Visitor for a reduced fee! All are welcome!

Youth and Young Adults Are Encouraged to Attend!
This is an especially interesting year for our youth and young adults. Bishop Eaton will be sharing new priorities for our church going forward and you might be surprised to hear what she has to say. Youth are especially encouraged to consider coming! There is a special luncheon on Saturday with Bishops Eaton and Froiland just for this age group of confirmation age up to 30 and a workshop geared for youth immediately following lunch.

Synod Assembly Weekend Video Message
From Bishop Froiland

Each year because it is the expectation that all pastors attend the annual assembly, the Bishop provides a video message that can be used in your congregations during sermon time on Assembly weekend. This year you can choose to watch the video via a YouTube link or you can request that a DVD be mailed to you. If you would like a DVD mailed to you, please email Linda Freitag at the synod office with your name, congregation’s name and mailing address. Email: mailto:lindaf@scsw-elca.org

Send Additional Congregational Members as Visitors!
With a keynote and report by our Presiding Bishop, we are encouraging our congregations to consider sending members as VISITORS in addition to sending your voting members. There is no easier way to get a bigger picture of our ELCA church than to send your folks to an assembly! Visitors attend for a reduced fee and can participate in the entire assembly. Meals are available at an extra cost.

Important Dates:
March 28 – Early Bird Registrations Closes – Last chance for discounted rate.
March 28 – Deadline for reserving hotel rooms. After 28th, rooms can’t be guaranteed. March 30 - Synod Assembly Book with the Agenda will go on line

Interested in Having a Display of Your Ministry or Service at Assembly?
Please register online for your display table. All the details and pricing can be found on the Assembly registration site. Note: Displays are subject to approval by the synod council. If you are a ministry partner, you will register as an ELCA ministry partner with or without meals.

Not only will Bishop Eaton serve as our Keynoter this year, she will also be leading a conversation with Youth and Young Adults at a youth and young adult luncheon. Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton and Bishop Mary Froiland, South-Central Synod of Wisconsin will enjoy conversation over lunch with our youth and young adults at our Synod Assembly on Saturday, April 30. Anyone that falls into the youth and young adult age bracket, (Confirmation age up to age 30) is invited to attend! More information is forthcoming, but be thinking about those in your congregation who may wish to join this conversation over a meal. (There is a fee for the meal for those not registered for the full assembly). If you are already a registered attendee, the cost of your lunch is included.

This Week's Update Bears Repeating:
We WILL Be Holding A Global Health Ministries In-Gathering at Synod Assembly!
Bring your Global Health Ministries Hospice and Newborn Kits, Rolled Bandages and Baby Quilts to Synod Assembly. Thank you to Ted Sehmer who has volunteered to manage the transport and drive the truck to St. Paul.

To participate in this ministry, visit the Global Health Ministry site at: www.ghm.org and click on the “Take Action” Tab for instructions for Hospice/Newborn/Rolled Bandages and Baby Blankets.

Kits can be delivered to the Synod Assembly on Friday, April 29 from 3 – 7 pm & Saturday, April 30 from 8 am – 5 pm.
Please box all items, with same items in each box, close the box and label the total number of items and type of item on the outside.

Can’t make kits but want to support this ministry? We are in need of financial support for the truck rental and gas. If you and/or your congregation would like to support the transportation of these kits, you may send an offering payable to the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin and write “GHM Transport” in the memo.
