The functions of the Consultation Committee are set forth in Chapter 20 of the Constitution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Consultation Committee is used in the beginning stages of the disciplinary process of the ELCA, at the discretion of the bishop, in an effort to find a resolution to the controversy before going to a formal discipline committee hearing. If you have questions about the purpose or ministry of the Consultation Committee, please contact the synod office at 608-270-0201. |
