The ELCA has Details of the ELCA's response and resources for congregations are posted at http://www.ELCA.org/disaster on the ELCA website. The ELCA reported at the recent conference of bishops that the ELCA has contributed over $6 million dollars toward Haiti relief efforts. Equally impressive is that this represents 40,000 separate contributions.
Thank you to our congregations for your prayers, financial and material support through LWR Health Kits for the people of Haiti. For more information on LWR Health Kits, see the "Resources" tab on our website.
Here is a bulletin insert that can be used in worship.
REMEMBERING: A Special Worship Invitation
Every Thursday 12:00-12:30 at the Synod Office with Brown Bag Lunch immediately following if your schedule permits.
"Marching May Apples" was the title of the photo used by Rev. Sara Yotter in her sermon last week during worship at the synod office. We will never be able to look at the May Apples again without thinking of the journey that Joseph and Mary took to the birthplace of our Savior. This week, Bishop Burnside shared a memory inspired by a photograph of a time-worn, well used, well-traveled wheel barrow. What does a wheel barrow being dragged down an alley by an out of control boxer (dog that is) have to do with our mission of sharing the Good News? Perhaps we need to become untethered ourselves in order to bring the Word out to those that need to hear it. These are the kinds of provocative messages you will hear at our weekly worship during lent as we " Remember" together.
Come and worship through the lens of Rev. Mary Kay Baum's camera. As a person who has young on-set Alzheimer's disease, fatigue and over-stimulation are daily parts of her journey, but she finds that walking the land helps her experience God through her surroundings. Each weekly worship during Lent will be a chance to remember and experience the gifts of Word, Sacrament, Singing, Praying and Fellowship all centered around one of Mary Kay's photographs. Brown bag lunch following at 12:30. Please join us for a wonderfully inspiring and spirit-filled worship.
